Mechanical Production Engineer II, Polymer Processing
Peak Nano has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer in the polymer processing area. Reporting to the Development Director within Peak Nano, the Mechanical Engineer has the primary responsibility for leading the transition of lamination and molding operations from development to production. This role will lead the effort to optimize area operations in repeatability, quality, and throughput.
Peak Nano is focused on developing and delivering innovative, disruptive solutions to the optical lens market. This position will support operations in our Valley View and Macedonia, OH sites.
Job Summary:
Demonstrates an intimate technical knowledge in the areas of polymer processing utilizing hydraulic presses and mold tooling. Including:
Equipment design, performance, and predictive/preventive maintenance
Knowledge of tool design and maintenance for polymer molded articles
Machine control systems design and capabilities
Quality systems and standards
Demonstrates a sense of urgency in resolving production issues and rapidly escalates issues to ensure transparency
Investigates unplanned events and develops and implements effective corrective and preventive actions.
Job Functions:
Process Development
HMI programming and industrial automation
Thermal performance of polymer component manufacturing process
Participate in cross functional FMEA and troubleshooting efforts related to polymer component manufacturing
Process Optimization
Drive continuous improvement
Develop and maintain process monitoring tools and process control charting
Press/Tooling Maintenance
Ensure that hydraulic press and tooling operating repeatably
Mold tooling maintenance and modifications
TCU PPM
Stock spare parts, determine calibration requirements, maintenance requirements and intervals
Production Expansion
Installation of new tooling and equipment
Scale development tooling for production manufacturing
Manage production tool design and build (Internal tool builds and tooling vendors)
Required Qualifications:
3+ years’ experience in manufacturing
Proficiency with plastic processing equipment and optimization
3D CAD (Soldiworks)
Education
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
